Role Overview
The Jewish Life Fellow is a central builder of Jewish student life at Boston University Hillel helping students find connection meaning and community through relationships Shabbat and holiday experiences and creative programming. This role is ideal for someone who feels genuinely excited about BU Hillels mission and eager to bring that energy to students every day.
This is a highly relational student-facing role. The Fellow serves as a consistent and welcoming presence in students lives creating spaces that are uplifting inclusive and rooted in genuine care. Through one-on-one connections and group experiences the Fellow empowers students to explore their Jewish identity and build community on their own terms. As part of a cohort of early-career professionals the Jewish Life Fellow will receive mentorship and training while contributing to a dynamic Jewish campus community of over 4000 students.
What Youll Do
- Build one-on-one relationships with students through consistent outreach and presence on campus
- Create a welcoming environment where students feel seen valued and connected
- Empower students to take ownership of their Jewish identity leadership and community
- Support planning and execution of Shabbat and holiday programming including logistics outreach and atmosphere
- Work with student leaders to enhance participation ownership and energy around Shabbat and holidays
On a day to day basis you will
- Design and implement engaging programs that connect students to Jewish life in relevant and accessible ways
- Build community through creative and immersive experiences such as meals retreats workshops speakers and cultural events
- Help cultivate micro-communities based on shared interests identities and relationships
- Collaborate with staff and student leaders to ensure thoughtful high-quality student experiences
What Youve Accomplished
- Bachelors degree preferred
- 02 years of professional experience or relevant internships or fellowships
- Demonstrated interest in Jewish life community building or working with college students
- Experience in a relational people-facing setting whether through campus involvement youth work hospitality education or something else entirely

- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple relationships and responsibilities at once
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative staff team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends including Shabbat and Jewish holidays
- Excitement about BU Hillels mission and a genuine love of Jewish life Shabbat and Jewish holidays
- Creativity initiative and a good sense of humor
- Strong written and verbal skills effective at communicating with a variety of stakeholders including students parents alumnae/i and university partners.

- Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $46000 - $48000
