Lead the strategic design approach as Director Major Projects Design & Delivery playing a senior leadership role in the design phase for critical Transmission and Distribution related infrastructure projects across the Eastern States of Australia based in AECOMs Sydney office.

In this role you will elevate our multidisciplinary design reputation in the energy sector and lead integrated technical frameworks for major grid and related infrastructure.  This role will suit a Design Director looking to make a difference across major and complex projects where understanding client needs leading design and engineering excellence while collaborating across key stakeholder groups are core parts of your skillset.  This leadership role offers exposure to complex high-profile projects and the opportunity to build long-term client relationships while contributing to Australias energy transition on major projects.

You will also have scope to mentor coach and develop the next generation of engineers in the Transmission and Distribution discipline this can include people leadership responsibilities as the team grows.

How youll make a difference:

• Lead and develop the design approach on major energy projects unifying diverse stakeholders (including client and construction partners) across multiple technical disciplines behind a clear technical project strategy.
• Provide senior technical and delivery leadership enabling the delivery of complex Transmission & Distribution engineering workstreamsshaping strategy solving technical challenges and influencing project outcomes.
• Operate at the forefront of major transmission projects building strategic trusted relationships while working with AECOM Major Project and Energy leaders regulated state-based network organisations and designandconstruct partners.
• Ensure design excellence across AECOM and client technical teams ensuring high standards of quality safety digital innovation and client satisfaction.
• Supports the development of a high-performance design culture based on accountability and continuous improvement through mentoring coaching and development of others across project workshare and technical teams.
• Apply strong commercial judgement to align scope budget schedule and longterm objectives while finding common ground among stakeholders.
• Provide inputs to business development and proposals including scope and timeframes.
• Leverage AECOMs Australian and global technical network to bring leading practices and cuttingedge solutions.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced Design Leader looking to make a difference through major project design and delivery in the Energy sector.  You will be known for your leadership abilities bringing together diverse internal client and external teams gaining agreement on the design approach for major complex energy projects.  Inclusive leadership and design rigour across engineering requirements will be your norm along with an ability to problem-solve and experience in delivery of complex projects.  Experience across energy related projects is required especially a track record of major projects at scale for the energy sector.

• Proven design and engineering leadership recognised in integrate diverse technical disciplines to drive successful project delivery toward a shared goal for major grid scale transmission projects.
• Registration on the National Engineering Register in Australia will be required ideally supported by a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) designation or equivalent international accreditation.
• Capability in operating and leading teams as a technical and senior delivery lead across complex transmission programs managing major client work packages.
• Client relationship and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships as a trusted advisor with internal and client expert technical teams.
• Ability to provide commercial judgement and pragmatism understanding design and build cost considerations for clients.
• A passion for mentoring and the development of others design and engineering technical abilities helping the next generation of AECOM engineers to build their careers.
