Shape AI User Experiences for AWS customers!

Our team builds Generative AIUX products that transform the way customers design. We are focused on the future of design driven development and democratizing innovation for all builders. We deliver a shared platform across multiple products and we work on AI-powered tools that use Design Systems to build interfaces and accelerate design development and validation workflows. The two products you will be working on are Venue and project Arena. Venue is an AI powered internal prototyping tool that helps AWS builders create new features using the AWS Cloudscape Design system. Arena is an external version of the tool that helps scale this offering to all of Amazon and to external customers with a focus on 0-1 rapid prototyping.

We are seeking a talented and passionate generative/agentic AI Front end engineer to join our team and lead development of cutting-edge AIUX solutions. AIUX is the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and User Experience. AIUX focuses making sure the user experience is bar raising for a human and simultaneously works well with agents. This includes designing for trust transparency (letting users know they are interacting with AI) and providing control (allowing users to edit or undo AI actions). It enhances productivity automates repetitive tasks and creates more engaging intuitive and efficient user experiences.

Key job responsibilities
As a Front-end Engineer you will be responsible for the overall system architecture and participate in the design and development of the system. You will contribute to set the long-term vision explore new opportunities and experiment with the latest front-end and AI technologies. You will contribute to the hiring process and mentor more junior engineers.

Develop AI-Native Interfaces: Create build and maintain intuitive react applications that allow users to interact with Generative AI including chat interfaces UI and code generation and dashboards.

Implement Complex UI States: Develop UI components that manage the unique states of AI interactions including loading states streaming outputs (real-time generation) error handling and retries.

Bridge Design and Engineering: Collaborate with designers to translate designs and user flows into production ready React/TypeScript code.

- Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react
- Experience in computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design data structures algorithm design problem solving and complexity analysis)
- Experience (non-internship) in professional front end web/mobile software development

- Experience in building AI or data-intensive applications
- Streaming UI Patterns: Experience implementing real-time streaming text (like ChatGPT) and handling asynchronous data flows.
- Expertise in Modern Frontend Frameworks: Strong proficiency in React TypeScript and modern JS ecosystems ( Tailwind CSS).
- Knowledge of backend technologies and frameworks
- Experience with test-driven development and front-end testing frameworks
- Awareness of User-Centered Design Methodology
- Prior experience in a startup or fast-paced environment
- API & Backend Knowledge: Solid understanding of API interaction and backend technologies ( Python Flask).
- AI Tooling Familiarity: Knowledge of tools to build AI-powered apps
- Performance Optimization: Skills in lazy loading caching and rendering optimization to maintain app speed.
- Experience working in rapidly evolving 0-to-1 project environments.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
