Job Summary
Office of Family Assistance
TheOffice ofFamily Assistanceprovides policy operational technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. This includes: Cash assistance programsfunded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Block Grant including Ohio Works First (OWF) and the Prevention Retention and Contingency programs; Food assistance programsincluding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) the Summer EBT Program the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP);Program Integrity;and Adult Protective Services. What You Will Do
The position plays a critical role in supporting statewide efforts to strengthen the accuracy integrity and accountability of public assistance programs. The Management Evaluation Specialist is responsible for conducting detailed case reviews assessing compliance with federal and state requirements and identifying opportunities to improve program performance and reduce payment errors.
Job Duties
- Learn the review process during your probationary period
- Travel to meet recipients at county offices or in their home
- Do face-to-face interviews to obtain information
- Document information using paper and electronic case records
- Complete approximately 20 reviews per month
- Achieve and maintain acceptable evaluation completion and accuracy rates
Challenges
- Managing a high review workload with strict accuracy standards
- Conducting face-to-face interviews in varied and sometimes unpredictable environments
- Interpreting and reconciling complex case information across multiple sources
- Independently managing work with limited direct supervision
Recommended Skills
- Experience determining eligibility for SNAP
- Ability to access and read case information in the Ohio Benefits (OB) eligibility system
- Persistent thorough detail-oriented and well organized
- Independently manage multiple assignments with overlapping due dates
Schedule: Full-time
Hours: Standard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Location: This position will be headquartered at the Rhodes State Office Tower 30 East Broad Street Columbus OH 43215
Travel: Occasional travel within the state of Ohio.
PN(s):
The ideal candidate at minimum must have the following:
Option 1:
- Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science health or pre-medicine or comparable field;
AND
- 18 months experience in delivery of human services health care services or medical assistance in governmental community or private human support services agency or medical provider.
Option 2:
- Completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science or medicine-related or comparable field;
AND
- 6 months experience in delivery of human services health care services or medical assistance in governmental community or private human support services agency or medical provider.
Option 3:
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohios SEIU/1199 Pay Schedule Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1 currently $31.74 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
