Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 6:00 pm (until 7:00 pm 1 day a week)

Your role as a Child & Adolescent Medication Management LPN
As a Licensed Practical Nurse in Child & Adolescent Medication Management at the Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board you will play a critical role in supporting the psychiatric care of young clients. Youll assist the staff psychiatrist in administering monitoring medications and ensuring adherence to treatment plans. Your responsibilities will include performing routine physical and mental health assessments ordering and dispensing medications and providing essential supportive counseling to clients.
You will prepare and maintain accurate medical records and medication inventories while ensuring secure handling of medications. Your skilled nursing duties will involve conducting medical intakes scheduling examinations and following up on medical concerns. This position allows you to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and adolescents while working closely with a dedicated team in a supportive environment.

To qualify for this position candidates must have the following:
- Graduate of an accredited LPN school of nursing.
- Current and valid Virginia State Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing.
- One (1) year of experience in the administration of medication or in a substance abuse treatment psychiatric setting or long term care facility including the dispensing of narcotic medication.
Additionally establishing rapport with clients is vital for effective treatment and a strong understanding of mental health laws guidelines and confidentiality regulations such as HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 will ensure quality care within legal parameters. Familiarity with psychiatric and medical terminology will enhance effective communication and documentation. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to accurately maintain client medical records and prepare comprehensive reports. These skills will empower you to make a significant difference in the lives of the clients served.
