What youll be doing
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will provide high quality recovery orientated trauma informed support in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to Aboriginal children and young people aged up to 18 years accessing mental health services within Sydney Childrens Hospital Network.
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will work within the Consultation Liaison team which provides services across inpatient outpatient Emergency Department and outreach services.
The Consultation Liaison Mental Health Clinician will work within the framework of their professional scope to provide specialist patient-centred and compassionate care to Aboriginal children young people and their carers presenting with mental health concerns to SCHN services. This could include support for social and emotional wellbeing. The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will work in partnership with multidisciplinary clinicians across the Mental Health service and Priority Populations clinical program streams to ensure Aboriginal children young people and their families receive culturally responsive and holistic care.
The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will ensure all activities are underpinned by Recovery Orientated Practices Trauma Informed Care Strengths based approaches and family-centred care. Other activities may include safety recovery and wellness planning individual support advocacy collaborative identification of community support follow up and support to access other services to address situational distress.
About You
Were looking for someone who:
- Is an Aboriginal identified position and the application must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977).
- Has Tertiary qualification in an appropriate allied health or nursing discipline and eligibility for or registration with appropriate professional body as appropriate. If applying as a CNS2 applicants must have a post graduate qualification in the specified clinical area (e.g. Mental Health) and 3 years experience working in the clinical area. Graduates from the Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health (Djirruwang Program) may be appointed as a Counsellor Level 3.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
