About the Position

We are seeking aSenior Research Officer who has the relevant experience to join ourPay Equity and Awards Team.

The SeniorResearch Officer works as part of a team providing direct supportto Expert Panels and Full Benches overseeing Pay Equity (equalremuneration and work value) Community and Care sector and Awardrelated matters before the Fair Work Commission (Commission). TheSenior Research Officer may also oversee the operations anddevelopment of the Modern Awards Pay Database.

As a SeniorResearch Officer you will use your in-depth knowledge of thefederal workplace relations system including the Fair Work Act2009 to research and analyse complex workplace relations issuesand to draft proofread and review documents prepared by other teammembers to ensure that findings presented are accurate. You willalso have an important role in contributing to the supervision anddevelopment of team members and setting workpriorities.

The PayEquity and Awards team provides research analysis and casemanagement support in award related matters including annual wagereviews pay equity applications and other applications to varymodern awards. The team also provides subject matter expertise tothe General Manager and the wider Commission.

Duties

  • Undertake research and analysis on complex workplace relations issues (including issues in relation to work value gender pay equity (equal remuneration and work value) and the Care and Community Sector) and prepare complex wage analyses or review wage analyses reports and other written material to support the work of Expert Panels and Full Benches.
  • Co-ordinate and undertake administrative tasks supporting the work of the tribunal in relation to modern awards including updating awards publishing material on the Commissions website dealing with enquiries to the team inbox and sending subscriber emails.
  • Draft proofread and review documents prepared by other team members such as briefing notes; web materials information materials determinations and correspondence.
  • Use the organisations record management filing and reporting systems to maintain records and coordinate updates and enhancements to the Modern Awards Pay Database manage documentation manage workflow and collate reports.
  • Contribute to the development of team policies and procedures in line with requests from statutory appointees and the Commissions business objectives. Develop and build team capability to support policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director Assistant Directors and/or the Executive Director Labour Standards Support Branch.
