Shift differential: $2.50/hr (evening overnight and weekend shifts)

Work Schedule: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm Friday and Saturday

Are you excited about this Peer Recovery Specialist I job

As a Peer Recovery Specialist I at the BJ Roberts Behavioral Health Center you will provide peer support and recovery-focused services to individuals receiving behavioral health treatment at our Crisis Stabilization and 23hr program. This role includes advocacy daily living support monitoring and assisting individuals with developing wellness and recovery goals.

You will work closely with the treatment team in both individual and group settings while using your lived experience to support and encourage recovery. Responsibilities may include helping individuals utilize recovery tools such as Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP) and other recovery planning resources to promote stability independence and personal growth.

To succeed as a Peer Recovery Specialist I candidates must bring both lived experience and strong interpersonal skills to support individuals in behavioral health recovery. This role requires the ability to use personal recovery experience to foster empathy engagement and hope for individuals receiving services.

Strong communication problem-solving skills and basic computer proficiency for documentation are essential. A valid state drivers license is required for transportation and outreach activities. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of recovery principles wellness strategies and person-centered support.

Knowledge Skills and Requirements

  • Must be an individual with personal lived experience of a mental health and/or substance use condition with at least 12 months of successful recovery including demonstrated progress in managing symptoms and building a meaningful life in recovery.
  • Valid state drivers license required.
  • Must complete the DBHDS 72-hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training within 6 months of hire.
