Lower School Assistant Teacher
St. Martins Episcopal School in Metairie is seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower School Assistant Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 academic school year. We are looking for an educator who loves inspiring young learners in an environment where they feel safe supported and encouraged to explore grow and build confidence. This is a full-time academic year position (August-May).
About the Role
We are seeking a caring dependable and engaging Lower School Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms. This role works closely with the lead teacher to create a warm structured and joyful learning environment for our youngest students.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being fully present with children and supporting their academic social and emotional development throughout the day.
Qualifications
College degree required; background in early childhood or education preferred
Understanding of young child development
A patient positive and team-oriented approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to be flexible proactive and dependable in a classroom setting
Comfort with basic technology and classroom tools
Physical stamina to actively engage with young children throughout the day
