Job Summary

Title: Facility Maintenance Specialist

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose:The Facility Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining safe clean and fully operational school facilities and transportation resources to support student learning and district operations. This position performs preventative maintenance repairs and campus upkeep while ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Additionally the role supports student transportation needs by operating school buses as assigned contributing to a secure efficient and well-maintained environment for students staff and the community.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid AZ DPS IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card(required).
  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required)
  • Fluency in writing speaking and reading Spanish preferred.
  • Must possess a valid State of Arizona Drivers license. CDL license is preferred but not required.
  • Must have two (2) years experience of maintenance.
  • Must have computer skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all duties and assignments and use materials and operate equipment in a safe and responsible manner using all safety equipment or clothing which might be reasonable to ensure the safety of self fellow employees and students.
  • Attend classes in-services and seminars as needed to improve knowledge and skills and to keep current with the latest in services equipment materials and functions as they pertain to the districts needs.
  • Perform Quarterly Bi-Annual and Annual Preventative Maintenance tasks and prepare proper ASFB documents with backup information to the Maintenance Coordinator or Director of Maintenance/Transportation.
  • Coordinate with the Principal of the school tasks that require maintenance assistance.
  • Blow debris from sidewalks and parking lot as needed.
  • Empty outside trash cans as needed.
  • Cut weeds in landscaping as needed.
  • Work with school staff to clean student bodily fluid accidents.
  • Clean smoke detectors once a year.
  • Change out fire alarm batteries as needed or at three (3) years.
  • Make repairs to building(s) as needed and according to work orders.
  • Clean parking lots and repaint striping as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors that will be performing work at the school.
  • File and keep all testing results Health inspections work orders pesticide and herbicide 72 hour notices and related maintenance documents.
  • Perform emergency tasks as needed and directed.
  • Listen to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and directives and respond with oral and written reports as required.
  • Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately for the position.
  • Work efficiently and cooperatively with other staff members.
  • Maintain in good condition and store for safekeeping all property supplies and materials of the district.
  • Assist with district maintenance as needed.
  • Assist in keeping the district campuses clean and orderly.
  • Assume responsibility for and secure the district assigned keys which are assigned to you for your job use and safekeeping.
  • Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates for which you are responsible being on campus only during reasonable hours and reporting to the Director of Maintenance/Transportation Business Manager or Superintendent any problems with locks lighting windows utilities etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance/Transportation or Superintendent.
  • Operate the district school buses in a safe and conscientious manner.
  • Maintain order on the school bus by ensuring that students are loaded properly and seated as prescribed by state and federal law and district regulations.
  • Daily perform a routine check of the safety functions of the assigned bus to ensure its safety and readiness for driving.
  • Exhibit caution and alertness.
  • Acquire knowledge of all bus routes.
  • Practice regular and consistent attendance arriving and departing at the designated times for your position
  • Practice good public relations techniques with students staff administration and parents demonstrating a cordial and friendly manner.
  • Identify destination and best route before departing on all trips.
  • Report all service concerns to the Mechanic and/or Transportation Coordinator as they are identified.
  • Assist the Transportation Coordinator in setting routes or making changes to routes when needed Assist with bus driving as needed (hourly differential when driving a bus)
  • Refrain from the use of inappropriate obscene or foul language.
  • Report problems with students to the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Principal and complete all required paperwork.
  • Sweep wash and generally keep in good repair and condition the school bus fleet of the district.
  • Record daily mileage and number of students being transported daily on district forms.
  • Fuel vehicle as required and complete required paperwork.

Terms of Employment

FT Non-Exempt: 12-month position40 hours a week

BASE SALARY:$21.36

Earned Paid Sick Time: Accrual up to 5 days (90 day probation)

Personal Business Leave: Accrual up to 7 days

Vacation: Accrual up to 5 days
