Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Underwriting to lead and shape an underwriting strategies and this role you will play a pivotal part in driving profitability ensuring compliance and fostering a high-performing team. You will be responsible for developing and executing underwriting principles managing risk selection and maintaining strong relationships with distribution partners. Responsibilities
- Oversee underwriting strategies to ensure profitability appropriate pricing risk selection and renewal retention.
- Develop and monitor underwriting guidelines ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Conduct market analysis and trend evaluations to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
- Underwrite maintain and grow a profitable book of business including setting and achieving pricing targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distribution partners and internal stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the underwriting team fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Analyze portfolio metrics and communicate results to executive teams recommending adjustments as needed.
- Assist in the creation and execution of annual department budgets.
- Execute talent management strategies to enhance employee engagement job satisfaction and team performance.
Qualifications/Requirements
Skills/Experience
- A minimum of 7 years of experience underwriting workers compensation risks up to $750000.
- Proven experience in supervising mentoring and developing underwriting teams.
- Strong knowledge of workers compensation ratemaking principles and the ability to effectively utilize actuarial resources.
- Exceptional analytical communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Power BI and other data analytical tools.
- Strong active listening problem-solving and interpersonal skills for team and client relationship development.
- Demonstrated business acumen with the ability to understand performance metrics and implement profitable growth strategies.
- Independent thinker with a forward-thinking mindset and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
