Job Summary

PURPOSE:

As a Process Engineer you will be part of a dynamic technical team driving manufacturing efficiency and productivity in a plant environment. You will apply Engineering principles to technical projects while researching and finding innovative and cost-effective means to improve safety quality and delivery.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides engineering leadership in efforts to maintain process control and improve quality
  • Analyzes manufacturing processes to identify and execute improvements utilizing lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies
  • Monitor and control equipment to improve production
  • Supports production to ensure attainment of business goals working directly with manufacturing personnel to ensure consistent process operations
  • Investigate and resolve casting defects (e.g. porosity inclusions runouts shrinkage)
  • Analyzes product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
  • Manages specification selection and execution of major capital and tooling acquisitions in order to drive technology improvements that positively impact Safety Quality Delivery Productivity and Inventory.
  • Ensures all work is in compliance with environmental health and safety standards industry specifications customer requirements company standards and related specifications

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exposure to Lean and Six Sigma Tools at minimum a willingness to learn and apply the tools.
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Effective communication skills communication: Listening Verbal and Written.
  • Understanding of material engineering
  • Self-motivated data-driven problem solver with a proven track record of process improvement.
  • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment including lifting materials up to 50 lbs.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Engineering or Materials Science
  • Knowledge of investment casting technology processes and manufacturing methods are preferable.
  • 3-5 years related experience preferred
  • Strong statistical process control knowledge
