Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technician provides surgical assistance to residents and attending physicians in an oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory operating/procedure room. This role supports clinical procedures by ensuring proper preparation maintaining sterile environments and assisting during surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
Escort patients to the surgical area screen patients prior to procedures and review medical records to confirm treatment plans and completeness of documentation
Provide continuous four-handed assistance to clinicians during procedures
Clean and disinfect countertops mayo stands and equipment prior to setup
Prepare and organize sterile instruments surgical trays and equipment for procedures
Take radiographs as requested before during and after procedures
Restock cabinets and maintain inventory of medical and surgical supplies
Assist chair-side by monitoring patient vitals suctioning and passing instruments and medications
Remove instruments and equipment post-procedure and properly dispose of medical waste
Respond effectively in emergency situations
Required Skills & Qualifications
NBSTSA-certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Dental Assistant Certification required
Minimum 3 years of experience required; 5 years preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education
Associates Degree required
Language Requirement
English (Speak Read Write)
Additional Requirements:
Experience in oral surgery / ambulatory OR setting required
Ability to maintain sterile technique and follow strict infection control protocols
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Must be able to respond effectively to emergencies
Experience supporting surgical residents and attending physicians required
