- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to support surgical and clinical operations by ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated sterilized and maintained. This role plays a critical part in infection prevention and patient safety within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and safety protocols
- Disassemble clean and reassemble complex surgical instruments
- Assemble and package instrument trays according to established guidelines
- Operate sterilization equipment including autoclaves and washer disinfectors
- Inspect instruments for cleanliness functionality and damage
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and instrument tracking logs
- Document missing or damaged instruments in accordance with SOPs
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of instruments and supplies
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of sterilization equipment
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards and ANSI/AAMI guidelines
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment
- Communicate effectively with surgical teams and support staff
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CRCST or CIS)
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience
- Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile processing workflows
- Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs)
- Experience operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves washer disinfectors)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to follow SOPs and detailed work instructions accurately
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
