JOB DESCRIPTON:We are looking for a dedicated High School Public Safety Teacher to educate students on various
aspects of the public safety professions.. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public safety with a
concentration in fire safety preferred. This role involves creating lesson plans delivering engaging instruction and assessment
and preparing students for careers in public safety or further education in the field.
SCHEDULE & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All Positions:
- School-Year (182 days from September - June)
- 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM
- Eligible for Employee Benefits including health dental and life insurance state pension college course reimbursement etc.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
- Develop and implement a curriculum that covers the fundamental aspects of criminal justice including law enforcement the court system corrections and forensic science. that align with Ch 74 frameworkS
- Assess student performance through assignments tests quizzes & projects and hands-on activities and provideconstructive feedback on their growth and development.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Stay current with developments in the field of Public Safety and integrate relevant updates into the curriculum.
- Communicate with students parents colleagues and Advisory Board members.
- Collaboration with colleagues for the overall success of the Ch 74 Public Safety department. Develop andimplement lesson plans projects and assessments that incorporate current public safety practices laws and standards.
- Provide hands-on training in areas such as emergency response fire safety crime scene processing incidentmanagement public safety communications and community policing.
- Collaborate with local police fire EMS emergency management agencies and other public safety partners toenhance curriculum and work-based learning opportunities
- Coordinate guest speakers demonstrations field trips and career exploration events
- Support cooperative education placements and work-based learning activities
- Integrate employability skills leadership development and career readiness into daily instruction
- Maintain industry-standard equipment and ensure safe use of tools materials and simulation environments.
- Accept additional responsibilities as may be required under the direction of the Vocational Supervisor(s).
Minimum Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a Chapter 74 teaching license in Public Safety (formally Criminal Justice) or the education and
employment experience necessary to obtain a Ch 74 license.
These include:
- Associate degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
- Four years of full-time employment experience directly related to the field of the license sought
- Passing score on each test (written test performance test) in criminal justice
- Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test (VTLST)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Position Type: Ch 74 Teacher
- Positions Available: 1
- Salary: Teacher Contract (contract still being negotiated; salary will be adjusted accordingly)
- Citizenship Residency or Work Visa Required
COMPENSATION:Teachers are school-year employees paid in 21 or 26 equal installments from September - June (or August if 26 pays).
BENEFITS:Teachers are eligible for the full complement of employee benefits including health dental vision life short-term disability and long-term disability insurance course reimbursement public pension and more.
