Childrens Services Internship Program

Education-Focused Internships (Fall/Winter)


Our Childrens Services Department is seeking motivated compassionate and dedicated interns for the Fall/Winter term who are pursuing careers in education and therapeutic services. Interns will gain hands-on experience supporting children with diverse developmental educational and therapeutic needs while working alongside licensed and certified professionals.

Interns gain meaningful hands-on experience in a dynamic childrens services environment while learning directly from dedicated experienced professionals through ongoing supervision and mentorship. The internship provides valuable exposure to evidence-based educational and therapeutic practices and offers a pathway to fulfill academic internship or fieldwork requirements while building professional skills and confidence for future careers.


Early Childhood Education Intern

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in an Early Childhood Education program

Key Responsibilities

  • Support classroom instruction for young children
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and engaging learning activities
  • Promote childrens social emotional and developmental growth
  • Observe and support individualized learning plans

Special Education Intern (Pre-K4)

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a Special Education Pre-K4 program

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist special education teachers in inclusive and specialized classrooms
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Help implement instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Observe assessments and progress monitoring

Occupational Therapy / Physical Therapy Intern (OT/PT)

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in an accredited OT or PT program recognized by:
    • Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
    • Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed therapists during therapy sessions
  • Support therapeutic activities and exercises
  • Help document progress and prepare therapy materials
  • Observe evaluations and treatment planning

Speech & Language Pathology Intern

Eligibility

  • Enrolled in a Speech-Language Pathology program

Key Responsibilities

  • Support speech and language therapy sessions
  • Assist with data collection and documentation
  • Prepare therapy materials and activities
  • Observe assessments and intervention strategies

General Internship Requirements

Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program

Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

Strong communication skills and professionalism

Commitment to supporting children and families
