We have an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Accountant to join our Surfacing team in Christchurch. Youll partner with our operational teams to prepare and finalise monthly claims provide accurate financial reporting and analysis and help keep our projects on track and within budget all while supporting safer smarter delivery for our customers.

As the Surfacing Commercial Accountant youll be a key link between our operational teams and the wider finance function. Based in an office environment with strong ties to our project and site teams youll play an important part in ensuring our work is delivered safely on time and within budget. Your financial insight reporting and commercial support will help drive better decision-making and strengthen the overall performance of the Surfacing division.
Ngā kawenga matua Key responsibilities
- Preparing finalising and submitting accurate end-of-month claims for projects and contracts.
- Undertaking cost planning reviews and analysis to ensure projects stay within budget.
- Preparing and presenting monthly financial reporting including cost reports and forecasts.
- Working closely with department managers on variation orders costs to complete and contractual claims.
- Supporting ad hoc analysis on business issues potential cost savings and tender opportunities.
- Assisting with Accounts Payable processing including raising and receipting purchase orders.
- Maintaining accurate timely and well-organised financial and project records.

- Previous experience in a commercial management or project accounting role.
- Accounting degree and/or CA qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills across both verbal and written mediums
- Self-motivation and the ability to work independently to complete assigned tasks
- A practical solutions-focused mindset with a strong attention to detail.
- Previous exposure to construction and maintenance programs of work would be an advantage but is not essential.
