The Reynoldsburg City Schools Assistant Principal serves as an educational leader and assists the Principal in the planning coordination and directing of activities related to the administration of the school. The Assistant Principal collaborates with the building Principal in organizing and fostering a positive safe and equitable environment conducive to meeting the needs of all students staff and parents. This role focuses on instructional leadership student support systems and the operational management of the building.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Educational Leadership or related field (Required for Ohio Licensure).
  • Valid State of Ohio Principal License (Middle School or Grades 4-9/7-12).
  • Valid State of Ohio Teaching License.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Credentialed in Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five (3-5) years of administrative or leadership experience (e.g. Dean of Students Department Chair Instructional Coach).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading PBIS and MTSS frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of Ohio House Bill 410 and attendance intervention protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary functions may include the following duties responsibilities skills abilities and other characteristics. Instructional & Personnel Leadership Responsibilities

  • OTES Evaluation: Conduct formal observations walkthroughs and evaluations of certified staff using the OTES 2.0 rubric; provide actionable feedback to improve instructional practice.
  • Professional Development: Assist in designing and delivering high-quality professional development that aligns with the Building Improvement Plan (BIP).
  • Staff Support: Provide open door Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) support for staff; coordinate internal coverage and support for teachers to ensure instructional continuity.
  • Data-Driven Instruction: Support the Principal in analyzing student achievement data to inform curriculum adjustments and interventions.

Student Support & Compliance Responsibilities

  • 504 Coordination: Serve as the building 504 Coordinator; facilitate evaluations lead 504 meetings and ensure the implementation and monitoring of accommodation plans in compliance with federal law.
  • Attendance (HB410): Manage truancy protocols by monitoring student hours issuing Habitual Truant letters conducting required parent contacts and leading Truancy Intervention Meetings.
  • PBIS & SEL Leadership: Serve as the building PBIS Lead; collect behavioral data develop student incentive programs (e.g. Raider of the Quarter) and integrate SEL supports into the daily school culture.
  • Special Education/MTSS: Participate in Intervention Assistance Team (IAT) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) meetings to provide appropriate student interventions.

Student Management & Operations Responsibilities

  • Daily Discipline: Manage daily student conduct; administer appropriate and equitable consequences (including ISS OSS and detention) while utilizing restorative justice practices where applicable.
  • Building Safety & Management: Supervise building operations in the Principals absence; conduct safety inspections and lead required safety drills (fire tornado lockdown).
  • Extracurricular Supervision: Plan and supervise extra-curricular and co-curricular activities ensuring a safe environment for students and community members.
  • District Support: Provide administrative support to other buildings within the district as directed by the central office during administrator absences.

School & Community Relations Responsibilities

  • Communication: Maintain proactive clear and consistent communication with parents via phone email and conferences.
  • Social Media Management: Manage and curate the buildings social media presence to celebrate student success and keep stakeholders informed.
  • Community Engagement: Actively participate in parent councils and community agencies to support the welfare of all students.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Ohio School Law (specifically HB410 and Special Education Law); OTES 2.0 Framework; PBIS and MTSS frameworks; RCS Board Policies.

Skilled in:

  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation; instructional coaching; data analysis; public speaking and professional writing.

Ability to:

  • Build authentic relationships with a diverse student body; manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously; maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment under pressure.

Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push pull lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.

Working Conditions The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.

Driving Requirement This position may require driving to various school sites or events.
