Job Summary

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher preferably in career and technical education;
  3. Minimum of three (3) years of successful secondary experience in a supervisory or administrative role preferred;
  4. Valid Texas Administrators / Principal certification;
  5. Demonstrated leadership ability strong interpersonal skills and effective communication skills; and
  6. Ability to provide leadership in planning developing implementing and supervising quality research-based CTE programs.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Probationary/Term Contract: 250 days

SALARY:

$98297/IA-7

Salary Range (based on experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work cooperatively with teachers fellow district administrators community partners and local CTE Advisory Committees to implement manage and support the Career & Technical Education program.
  2. Remain current in knowledge of state and federal laws/rules pertaining to Career and Technical Education.
  3. Collaborate with other Curriculum & Instruction Directors to ensure CTE programming and procedures complement and are in alignment with overall C&I programming and procedures.
  4. Coordinate with Curriculum & Instruction and Accountability to develop and facilitate trainings/updates for district staff and principals associate principals directors of instruction and counselors on topics related to compliance and accountability.

  5. Facilitate department goal planning with district level CTE staff and facilitate processes to ensure course offerings curriculum materials staff development and other staff support being provided are in alignment with district and state goals and expectations.

  6. Maintain Programs of Study aligned with TEA recognized course sequences that meet student interests and complement current offerings.

  7. Use advisory committee and post-secondary partner feedback labor market data and TEA guidance materials to develop and grow programs related to current industry.

  8. Facilitate annual audits to ensure compliance in areas such as district and campus staff payroll funding PEIMS coding of CTE students contact hour reporting attempted and earned certifications and certification reimbursements.

  9. Evaluate Career and Technical Education programs of study annually including monitoring and responding to trends in CTE student demographics course requests EOC performance earning of industry-based certifications program of study completion and post-secondary enrollment.

  10. Establish and monitor district and campus data collection methods to support campuses and evaluate CCMR data related to CTE.

  11. Provide professional development for campuses using campus-specific data to improve the number of industry-based certifications earned and overall program growth.

  12. Coordinate the Ag Science program including providing staff with curriculum support and training.

  13. Plan and facilitate the annual CFISD Livestock Show and Sale including the online auction.

  14. Organize and implement Career and Technical Education program advisory committee(s) comprised of local and area business owners and industry representatives along with opportunities for CTE staff parent and student input.

  15. Collaborate with post-secondary partners to align CFISD CTE programs of study with those offered beyond high school providing for a smooth transition for students including opportunities for dual credit.

  16. Collaborate with Advanced Academics and Lone Star College to facilitate workforce Dual Credit courses/programs.

  17. Coordinate with Guidance & Counseling to facilitate regularly scheduled meetings with CTE counselors to provide guidance on their CTE-related job responsibilities.

  18. Hire support and evaluate all district level Career and Technical Education staff members.

  19. Analyze students course requests and current staff to provide input on CTE staffing allocations for teachers of career and technical education courses.

  20. Assist principals and Human Resources staff in locating and supporting qualified CTE teachers including provide trainings and teacher observations required as part of the CTE permit process.

  21. Complete forms and reports required by the Texas Education Agency and other funding entities in a timely manner.

  22. Apply and obtain state and federal funds for Career and Technical Education programs including the Perkins grant.

  23. Prepare and administer the Career and Technical Education departmental annual budget including funds in state federal (grant) and activity accounts in accordance with the guidelines for each funding source.

  24. Update course description booklets district website pages and other promotion materials for Career and Technical Education programs of study.

  25. Promote public awareness of CFISD Career and Technical Education programs including but not limited to social media posts videos parent/student information events and Board presentations.

  26. Assist in the design of new and/or modified facilities for Career and Technical Education programs.

  27. Serve as the Facilities Manager over the three district Ag Science Centers (livestock barns) and CFISD Exhibit Center including facility maintenance plans for emergency weather applications for use of barn facilities and resolving parent and student questions or concerns.

  28. Perform other duties as assigned by Associate Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and Accountability and Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district-wide and state-wide travel. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
