Database Administrator

Our Client is hiring a Senior Database Administrator to support cloud modernization initiatives. This role focuses on managing and optimizing SQL Server environments across Azure cloud and on-prem systems while contributing to the evolution of data platforms including Azure Synapse and Data Lake.

• Manage and maintain SQL Server environments (Azure and on-prem)
• Support Azure SQL Managed Instance Synapse Analytics and Data Lake
• Perform database performance tuning monitoring and optimization
• Handle database backup recovery and high availability setups (Always-On clustering)
• Support database migrations and hybrid cloud environments
• Troubleshoot complex database and reporting issues
• Implement database security (encryption authentication TDE)
• Contribute to data warehouse architecture and data governance
• Provide technical guidance to support teams and stakeholders

• 7 9 years of SQL Server experience (Azure and on-prem)
• 5 years with Azure Synapse Analytics
• Strong experience with Azure SQL (Managed Instance Dedicated Pool Serverless Data Lake)
• Expertise in SQL Server versions (2012/2014/2016/2019)
• Performance tuning and database optimization experience
• Experience with backup recovery and high availability solutions
• Azure certifications required: AZ-900 DP-900 DP-300

• Experience with distributed data systems
• Exposure to middleware and gateways
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices
• Experience with data warehouse tools (e.g. Oracle OBIEE)
• Understanding of enterprise architecture and data governance
• Public sector experience

• Ensure database availability performance and security
• Support database installations upgrades and maintenance
• Lead disaster recovery planning and implementation
• Monitor data integrity and resolve system issues
• Support enterprise data strategy and analytics initiatives
• Maintain documentation and support knowledge transfer
