Senior Data Engineer

Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer with strong expertise in data architecturedata engineering and a focus in working with geospatial data. This role will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to build high quality data pipelines driving analytic solutions. These solutions will generate insights from the organizationsconnected data enabling the organization to advance the data-driven decision-making capabilities of the organizations enterprise. This role requires an agile learner possess strong problem-solving skills work as partof a technical cross functional analytics team and want to solve complex data problems and deliver the insights to enable analytics strategy. Main Accountabilities:

• Design build deploy and support cloud-based and open-source solutions that ingest and process geospatial data (e.g. weather locations satellite) to support Bunges commercial intelligence initiatives
• Implement scalable data pipelines for ingestion transformation and delivery of structured and unstructured geospatial data.
• Build highly scalable APIs for accessing geospatial data and initiating geospatial processing and analysis.
• Develop event-driven data processing solutions using Google Cloud Pub/Sub to orchestrate multi-stage spatial workflows.
• Integrate and manage data flows across cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS and BigQuery and cloud storage such as AWS S3 and Google Cloud Storage
• Collaborate with data engineers and product owners to optimize and monitor data pipelines and services for performance reliability scalability and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical support including incident response troubleshooting and resolution for production issues in data pipelines and API services.

Minimum requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Geography Engineering or relevant job experience
• Skilled in Python SQL PostgreSQL/PostGIS including schema design and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with large complex geospatial data sets (vector or raster) and geospatial processing
• Solid understanding of geospatial data concepts. Experience with programmatic data processing and analysis using geospatial libraries and tools.
• Experience with cloud compute services (GCP preferred) such as GCP BigQuery EarthEngine Pub/Sub Cloud Run GCS
• Experience with code versioning and dependency management systems such as Azure Dev Ops (ADO) or GitHub
• Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced collaborative environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated strong number sense intellectually curious and willing to adjust position based on additional information
• Strong work ethic; ability to work across diverse geographical time zones

Preferred qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with event-driven and streaming data architectures using Cloud platform and services such as Google Cloud Pub/Sub
• Highly proficient in Python with a strong track record of building and maintaining production data pipelines and backend systems
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and tools such as Terraform ADO pipelines or GitHub Actions
• Experience with integrating geospatial compute platforms like ArcGIS and Google Earth Engine into enterprise workflows
• Experience with building RESTful APIs using industry-standard frameworks
• Experience in Agri-business sustainability or related industry
