We have an opportunity for an experienced Property InsuranceLawyer Associate or Senior Associate to join our growing GeneralInsurance practice in Melbourne. This role will focus on propertydamage liability claims recoveries and indemnity/coveragedisputes. You will be responsible for and have carriage ofyour own files with appropriate supervision.
Our General Insurance team in Melbourne is part of our nationalGeneral Insurance practice. Led by industry-leading partners andsenior lawyers our high-performing team has expertise insubrogated recoveries (including class action recoveries) complexindemnity disputes (including fraudulent claims litigated coveragedisputes and AFCA complaints) property liability claims andprofessional indemnity and financial lines. Our lawyers act ascoverage monitoring and defence counsel for the Australian andLondon insurance markets.
Key responsibilities
Thesuccessful candidate will be responsible for but not limitedto:
- reviewing of documents and preparation of evidence;
- drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;
- conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;
- preparing briefs for counsel;
- drafting Court documents and attending Court;
- drafting client advices; and
- drafting letters of instruction to experts.
Skills and experience
We are keen to hear from candidates with the following:
- 3 - 4 years of post-admission experience in insurance law including within property damage indemnity and/or large loss recoveries;
- experience in providing indemnity and coverage advice to a range of insurers;
- experience in managing and running litigation end-to-end through the Courts;
- clear concise legal writing and drafting skills;
- strong attention to detail; and
- a team-orientated approach to working.
