System Administrator

Arηs Group Part of Accenture is looking for a System Administrator for one of its clients at the EU Institutions in Brussels.

Context

Within a European institutional environment the assignment supports teams involved in socioeconomic analysis data management and geographic information systems (GIS). The role contributes to the maintenance operation and evolution of IT systems and technical architectures that underpin data analysis visualization and web-based dissemination tools. The consultant works closely with analytical teams and IT stakeholders to ensure reliable secure and efficient IT services supporting GIS and statistical activities.

Role & responsibilities

• Installation configuration and maintenance of system components and server software including patch management
• Operation and monitoring of infrastructure systems and servers
• Preliminary diagnosis and resolution of software and hardware issues in coordination with central IT services
• Coordination with hosting services and participation in IT-related discussions
• Implementation and evaluation of security standards in line with corporate guidelines in cooperation with local security stakeholders
• Configuration management tasks procedures and documentation of systems infrastructure and operational processes
• Analysis of system performance and continuous monitoring of IT environments
• Creation and maintenance of static and dynamic web pages for GIS-related intranet environments
• Management of software updates on web servers and coordination of new web application deployments for intranet and internet platforms
• Installation and maintenance of web servers and development tools supporting web-based information systems
• Contribution to the definition and maintenance of intranet and internet architecture
• Technical support to analytical teams including advice on appropriate software and IT solutions for GIS operations and data analysis
• Acting as a contact point for IT-related requests with institutional IT services

Qualifications :

Your profile

• Comfortable working in a structured large organizational environment
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Very good command of English (spoken and written)
• Knowledge of French would be considered an asset
• Ability to participate actively in multilingual meetings

Technical skills

• Very good knowledge of Server Operating Systems (Windows and Linux)
• Very good knowledge of Apache Web Server
• Good understanding of IT security principles and practices
• Strong experience operating and monitoring IT systems and infrastructure
• Good knowledge of Windows-based user environments including Group Policies and registry management
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and applications management
• Experience with configuration management and system documentation
• Knowledge of version control tools (GIT SVN GitLab)

Any of the following would be considered an asset

• Knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as Python Bash Windows JScript/VBScript SQL and procedural languages (Oracle or PostgreSQL)
• Experience with HTML and JavaScript including OpenLayers libraries
• Experience with interactive data visualization tools (e.g. Highcharts)
• Exposure to cloud environments including Amazon Cloud
• Basic experience with GIS software (e.g. ESRI) and/or statistical tools such as R
• Familiarity with institutional IT ecosystems and procedures
