Train Control is the brain of KiwiRail controlling the movement of freight scenic and commuter trains across the country.
There is significant growth in the Passenger Metro Rail Services in Auckland and Wellington as well as increased demand for access to our rail network for key maintenance and infrastructure projects. We are a busy and dynamic operation with our team of Train Controllers working together to keep the wheels in motion and ensure all operations and activities on the rail corridor are undertaken with safety being the key priority.

- Understand the criticality of safety in an operational environment and have a mindset always focused on safe working behaviour
- Demonstrated experience dealing with different customers understanding their needs developing effective relationships balancing conflicting priorities and focusing on delivering effective outcomes
- Can work independently as a self-driven individual who likes challenge and variety
- Able to communicate clearly so others can easily follow your instructions
- Experience applying set rules regulations and procedures critical to safe operations
- A multitasker / problem solver with the ability to think quickly and see the big picture
