  • Learning Engagement Specialist

    Goal of the Position: To provide targeted support and coordination for students in need of additional academic and behavioral support in order to improve outcomes increase engagement and promote successful participation in the school environment.


    Position Summary: The Learning Engagement Specialist is responsible for supporting students identified as at-risk due to academic behavioral social-emotional or attendance concerns. This role focuses on coordinating interventions maintaining a structured and supportive learning environment and collaborating with staff families and support services to promote student success.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the academic support classroom or intervention setting
    • Build positive relationships with students to foster engagement accountability and growth
    • Monitor and support student behavior using restorative practices and proactive interventions
    • Implement and track individualized behavior and academic intervention plans
    • Collaborate with teachers counselors administrators and support staff to align interventions
    • Communicate with families regarding student progress concerns and successes
    • Support students in developing social-emotional skills conflict resolution strategies and self-regulation
    • Maintain accurate documentation of student data interventions and outcomes
    • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary
    • Facilitate or support small group instruction or skill-building sessions as needed
    • Support attendance monitoring and collaborate with school staff to address truancy concerns


    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree in education
    • Experience working with at-risk youth or in a school-based support role
    • Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches
    • Strong communication collaboration and relationship-building skills
    • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress or crisis situations
    • Organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation


    Preferred Skills and Competencies

    • Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
    • Familiarity with MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) frameworks
    • Skill in de-escalation techniques and conflict mediation
    • Cultural responsiveness and ability to work with diverse student populations
    • Data tracking and progress monitoring experience


    Work Environment

    • School-based setting often working with small groups or individual students
    • May involve managing challenging behaviors and high-needs situations
    • Requires flexibility patience and strong problem-solving skills
