Position Title: Dean of Student
Reports to: Principal
Responsibilities:
Assists principal in the overall supervision of the middle school.
Performs as a resource for teachers and staff who express concerns
for student attendance student development and discipline.
Resolves student behavior concerns in a fair and timely manner and
maintains records of disciplinary or referral actions takes.
Maintains active relationships with parents families and students
with clear communication and listening skills.
Serves as a member of the principal advisory committee in relation
to school behaviors routines and discipline policies.
Serves as a resource for building staff administrators and parents
in working with students creating a positive school climate and
helping students develop a positive self-concept.
Effectively manage conflict within the school building.
Investigates student complaints interviewing students and witnesses
in disciplinary investigations.
Investigate adjudicate and monitor minor infractions of the school
code in the form of progressive discipline such as detentions
classroom referrals and in-school suspension.
Work successfully and positively with all students to provide
them with assistance in meeting their educational needs.
Works in coordination with building leadership team to facilitate
and implement intervention steps including PBIS and processes with staff.
Coordinate implementation of parent involvement as well as
school sponsored events. Assists with school-wide and event
supervision. May oversee school-wide emergency preparedness
team meetings and implementation efforts.
Supervises athletics contests dances and other student activities
throughout the year.
Clearly communicate the Plain Local vision and mission to the school
community and maintain a positive school climate while holding staff
accountable as needed.
Perform other tasks and assumes responsibilities within the overall
scope of the position which the principal may assign
