Job Description:

The successful intern candidate will be a key member of the New Agricultural Technology global team contributing to ongoing research in plant physiology. The position will be based at UPLs brand new OpenAg Center in Research Triangle Park North Carolina and reporting to the Global Research Lead for Physiology.

The successful candidate will:

  • Contribute to conducting lab and greenhouse studies for proof-of-concept testing of experimental technologies and product life cycle management support.
  • Perform general laboratory operations including day-to-day activities such as research supplies inventory equipment maintenance and maintaining plants.
  • Possess good observational skills and attention to detail in performing assessments record-keeping.
  • Have demonstrated skill in organizing their time and managing projects.
  • Be excited to tackle new challenges and develop new skills.
  • Be flexible and willing to help with tasks beyond those mentioned above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Working towards a B.S. (junior or senior year) with at least one year of relevant work experience or working towards an M.S. or Ph.D. in horticulture plant physiology soil science ag engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office environment and willingness to learn company-specific software.
  • Ability to work in greenhouse conditions and lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be trained in safe operating procedures and exercise them.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
  • Ability to understand and handle information that can be company confidential
