    Title: Summer Food Service Head Cook
    Reports To: Director of Food Service
    Hours: 8hours / 5 days per week (M-F) starting June 3rd to August 7th 2026

    SUMMARY:

    The Food Service Head Cooks oversees work of kitchen staff ensuring effective workflow and adherence to food safety procedures and sanitation standards. Head Cooks maintain all record keeping including summer meal tally sheets food storage food production reports and inventory. The Head Cook will maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with all district staff students parents/ guardians and the community.

    Required Education and Certification:

    • High School diploma or GED
    • ServeSaf Certification

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Listed below are the essential tasks required for this job.

    Job Tasks Descriptions

    Communicates and demonstrates customer service approach of the Food Services Program.
    Provides training and guidance to kitchen staff on proper food handling cooking techniques and food safety procedures.
    Participates and coordinates in the proper food preparationand serving of meals according to the Food Service Department Standards.
    Coordinates in the proper receiving storage and inventorying of all food storage areas paper chemicals and smallwaresaccording to the Food Service Department Standards.
    Ensures the freshness of all prepared items by implementing proper rotation of food items prepared properly wrapping and labeling prepared food items and following forecast production numbers.
    Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen food storage and preparation areas.
    Coordinates the meal service preparation at the school site. Follows standardized recipesportion sizes menu compliance andutilize proper equipment and techniques.
    Maintains a smooth flow of service and coordinates to assure that the students staff and faculty have a pleasurable dining experience.
    Ensuresaccurate inputting of allfood production recordsand meal count data required for theNational School Lunch Program.
    Accuratelyreports all sales transactions account balances collection of funds and preparation of daily deposits.
    Foster district commitment to excellence and equity by ensuring that employees and students are valued respected and provided a positive work/learning environment.
    Establish positive relations with internal and external customers including students staff and school administration parents and community members.
    Perform other duties as assigned.
