SALARY: Beginning at $56892/year with full benefits package

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position is part of the Childrens Services Section which is responsible for all child welfare functions and programs. The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a liaison between Child Protective Services and Foster Care to aid in transitional case management activities when children enter care. Such activities include: scheduling child and family team meetings; scheduling medical appointments; completing applications with placement providers; completing visitation plans with parents and siblings; and ensuring coordination and communication between staff of Child Protective Services and Foster Care. This position will also perform a variety of social work duties including: supervising court ordered visitation between parents children in custody and siblings; providing feedback and instruction to parents and foster parents as needed; providing outreach and prevention services to families as needed to prevent the family from needing a higher level of involvement with child welfare in the future; making referrals to various supportive services as well as locating notifying and engaging absent parents; notifying all relatives when children come into custody; updating placements within NCFAST and taking the lead on notifying internal and external stakeholders on all placement changes including the lead educational agency per ESSA regulations the primary care physicians and other medical entities per Fostering Health initiatives and linking with MH/IDD/SUD providers as appropriate; documenting case planning and social work activities in the case record; providing transportation associated with all case-related activities including parent and sibling visits; and serving in an on-call rotation.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of social work principles techniques and practices and their application to complex casework group work and community problems. Considerable knowledge of a wide range of medical behavioral and psychosocial problems and their treatment theory. Considerable knowledge of family and group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques governmental and private organizations and resources in the community laws regulations and policies which govern the program. General knowledge of the methods and principles of casework supervision and certain settings considerable knowledge of medical terminology disease processes and their treatment as they relate to decisions regarding clinical interventions and appropriate therapies based on medical or psychological diagnosis. Skill in establishing rapport with a client and in applying techniques of assessing psychosocial behavioral and psychological aspects of clients problems. Ability to supervise train or instruct lower-level social workers students or interns in the program. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of caseload and their families as well as civic legal medical social and religious organizations. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely and to plan and execute work effectively.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Masters degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelors degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); Bachelors degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Masters degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelors degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience.

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO THOSE WITH BI-LINGUAL SKILLS AND/OR DSS EXPERIENCE.
