Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room (OR)
Location: Sugar Land TX
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 5x8s (6:45 AM 3:15 PM)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality perioperative care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The RN will collaborate with physicians and the surgical team to ensure safe effective and efficient patient care throughout all phases of surgery.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all instruments equipment and supplies are sterile and ready
- Assist surgeons and surgical teams before during and after procedures
- Maintain strict aseptic and sterile techniques throughout surgeries
- Monitor patients vital signs and condition during procedures
- Conduct pre-operative assessments including patient verification and consent review
- Provide intraoperative care including proper patient positioning and safety measures
- Perform surgical counts (instruments sponges supplies) before and after procedures
- Administer medications and support anesthesia processes within scope of practice
- Collaborate with surgeons anesthesiologists and healthcare staff
- Respond to surgical emergencies and complications promptly
- Ensure proper functioning of surgical equipment and report issues
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and procedures
- Provide post-operative care and assist with patient transfer to recovery units
- Educate patients and families on procedures and recovery when needed
- Follow all safety standards policies and regulatory guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Operating Room (OR) nursing experience
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
