Provides technical and analytical support for GIS projects as required by GIS and other Tribal departments and as directed by the GIS analysts collect manage analyze and visualize geospatial data allowing Tribal staff to make informed decisions based on spatial patterns and relationships. Also GIS Analysts design and publish web mapping applications and extend and automate GIS tools analyses and workflows by developing custom programs and scripts using industry-standard programming languages. They effectively prioritize and schedule a variety of work assignments possess good verbal and written communication skills and establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers Tribe members and outside agencies. The GIS Analyst is the first-level professional in the Analyst Series. The GIS Analyst differs from the Senior GIS Analyst by both the scope of work performed as well as by the level of supervision and direction Duties and Responsibilities:The following list of duties represents the range of tasks performed by GIS Analysis and VisualizationHelp Tribal Departments and Members translate their information needs into practical effective GIS products and complex spatial and tabular data analysis such as overlay analysis proximity analysis statistical analysis density analysis interpolation terrain modeling and network flow geoprocessing tools models and procedures for common routines such as GPS data conversion or complex spatial analysis utilizing advanced queries scripting model builder applications and other and produce high quality geospatial products including cartographic maps web applications mobile applications technical reports and Development and ManagementProtect and maintain the sovereignty quality integrity accuracy and security of Tribal evaluate and acquire geospatial data from diverse organizational develop edit and publish spatial data sets and analyzes and converts Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and aerial imagery data. Perform data conversion updates and quality control for spatial data sets and and maintain data models maintenance procedures and metadata database performance troubleshoot test designs and recommend DevelopmentDevelop deploy and maintain web mapping applications to facilitate access to GIS data for Tribal departments and community deploy and maintain field mapping applications to facilitate data collection and navigation for Tribal departments and community existing applications to correct programming errors improve performance and integrate with or migrate to new systems or GIS technology and best practices to improve GIS procedures through better technical dutiesAssist with training and supporting Tribal staff in the use of GIS software and reports and deliver presentations. Perform administrative tasks and other duties as to a favorable public image of the Tribe by establishing and maintaining positive relationships with the Tribal civic and professional ResponsibilitiesThis position does not have departmental level supervisory responsibilities although the incumbent may supervise GIS Technicians or GIS Interns on a project specific and RequirementsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. GIS experience gained while working for an American Indian Tribe is Experience is defined as:A thorough knowledge of GIS software- especially ESRI software (ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Desktop ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Enterprise) and apps (Experience Builder Dashboards StoryMaps Field Maps Survey123 AppStudio).Thorough knowledge of cartographic mapping understanding of spatial analysis techniques and GIS data of performing geoprocessing and spatial analysis for a variety of knowledge of GPS hardware and or some experience with UAS drone mapping including flight planning data collection and data processing a plus. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate is knowledge of programming languages used with GIS software such as Python Arcade JavaScript SQL to provide GIS technical expertise and consultation to programs and to communicatecomplex concepts with both technical and non-technical to collaborate with and/or train both technical and non-technical to coordinate and organize a variety of simultaneous projects with varying deadlines and SkillsAbility to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write reports and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management public groups and/or boards of SkillsAbility to comprehend and perform basic algebraic and trigonometric calculations as well as perform basic area length and unit AbilityAbility to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete or CertificatesMust have a valid and unrestricted Washington State Drivers License.
