The Music Department at Utah State University invites applications for aTemporaryAssistant Professor of Percussionto coordinate and teach in its percussion program. This is a9-month academic-year appointmentbeginningAugust 1 2026 with the potential for renewal beyond the academic year. • Teaching weekly lessons to percussion students supervising student recitals and preparing and leading percussion juries
• Coordinating the Caine Chamber Percussion Ensemble and USUs large Percussion Ensemble
• Teaching percussion methods courses for music education majors in both the fall and spring semesters
• Performing with the faculty jazz ensemble as needed
• Collaborating with colleagues to strengthen the percussion program and the broader music curriculum

• Temporary Assistant Professor rank: PhD or Doctor of Musical Arts in PercussionPerformance or a closely related field completed by time of appointment.
• Temporary Instructor rank: a Masters degree in Music or related who are All But Dissertation (ABD) will be appointed at the Temporary Instructor rank with advancement to Temporary Assistant Professor contingent upon completion of the doctoral degree.
• Experience in both classical and jazz performance
• Engaging and effective teaching style
• Strong interpersonal skills
