The Distribution Attendant is responsible for the efficient receipt storage and distribution of medical supplies equipment and materials throughout the hospital. This role ensures that all departments are adequately stocked to support patient care while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety and infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive inspect and verify incoming supplies against purchase orders and packing slips
Stock inventory in designated storage areas following proper rotation (FIFO) practices
Pick pack and deliver supplies to hospital departments in a timely manner
Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems
Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies
Restock supply carts shelves and automated dispensing units as required
Ensure proper handling and storage of sterile and non-sterile supplies
Follow hospital policies related to infection control safety and hazardous materials
Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits
Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage and distribution areas
Transport equipment and supplies safely throughout the facility
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in a hospital warehouse or distribution environment preferred
Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment is an asset
Basic computer skills (inventory systems scanners etc.)
Ability to lift carry and move heavy items (up to 50 lbs / 23 kg)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced hospital environment
Frequent walking standing bending and lifting
May involve exposure to clinical areas and adherence to PPE requirements
Shift work may be required (days evenings weekends holidays)
