Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Underwriter to join our Energy Casualty team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding Starr Insurances reach throughout the Southeast with a specific emphasis on Southeast producers. This role requires a deep understanding of casualty lines of coverage and a strong background in energy underwriting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a profitable Energy Casualty portfolio focusing on strategic growth and market penetration.
  • Cultivate relationships with key Southeast producers to drive new business opportunities and strengthen existing partnerships.
  • Conduct thorough underwriting analysis to assess risks and determine appropriate coverage terms.
  • Prepare and issue indications quotations and binders with precision and attention to detail.
  • Monitor and manage the new business pipeline ensuring timely follow-ups and conversions.
  • Actively solicit submissions from brokers and clients demonstrating a proactive approach to business development.
  • Provide exceptional service and support to clients addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends regulatory changes and market conditions to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines and strategies to enhance the competitiveness of our Energy Casualty offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred; advanced degrees or professional designations (e.g. CPCU ARM) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience underwriting casualty lines of coverage including Workers Compensation General Liability Commercial Auto and Excess Liability.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex risks and develop tailored solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and tools as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
