Job Description Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team at our metal forming manufacturing plant in Oxford Michigan. This internship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced industrial environment supporting the design development and optimization of metal forming processes tooling and production equipment.
You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects that directly impact product quality production efficiency equipment reliability and cost reduction. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree to apply classroom knowledge in a practical manufacturing setting.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and modification of progressive dies stamping tools and metal forming equipment
  • Assist with process improvement projects focused on increasing throughput and reducing scrap
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for production and quality issues
  • Help create and update engineering documentation including drawings BOMs and work instructions
  • Conduct time studies capability studies and process mapping on the production floor
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change order (ECO) processes
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Maintenance and Quality teams on cross-functional projects
  • Perform basic CAD modeling and drawing revisions (SolidWorks or AutoCAD)
  • Assist with equipment installations validations and preventive maintenance improvements
  • Prepare technical reports data analysis and presentations for engineering reviews

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles materials science and manufacturing processes
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks AutoCAD or similar)
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
