The Role
As a Component Graphics Designer you will create and execute clear intuitive icons for physical controls and in-vehicle interfaces. Your work will help drivers and passengers quickly understand what each button switch and indicator does.
You will collaborate with designers engineers and safety experts to turn complex functions into simple universal visual symbols. You will balance creativity with clarity making sure every icon is easy to recognize and use in
real-world driving conditions.
This role is hands-on. You will sketch iterate build libraries and guide icons from first idea through final production on vehicles.

What Youll Do
- Prepare production-ready icon artwork and specifications formanufacturing
- Design icons for physical components such as buttons switches andindicators
- Translate complex functions and features into simple easy-to-understandsymbols
- Create and maintain a consistent icon library across programs and vehiclelines
- Work with interaction designers to ensure icons support overall use experience
- Partner with engineers and safety teams to meet usability and regulatoryneeds
- Test and refine icons based on user feedback Human Factors andmanufacturing criteria
- Document icon usage guidelines and share best practices with cross-functional teams
- Present design options and rationale to partners and leaders in clearlanguage
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Experience: Recommended 4 years of professional experience in icondesign product design interface design or a closely related field
- Education: Bachelors degree in Industrial Design Graphic DesignInteraction Design UI Design
- Role level: Individual contributor (non-managerial) with strong ownership of deliverables
- Design skills:
- Proven ability to design simple meaningful icons for physical ordigital interfaces
- Strong understanding of visual hierarchy legibility and informationclarity
- Ability to work in both low-fidelity sketches and high-fidelity vector artwork
- Tools: Proficiency with modern design tools like: Adobe Illustrator Figma or similar vector-based software.
- Communication: Sound communication skills both written and verbalincluding the ability to explain design decisions
- Collaboration: Comfortable working with cross-functional teamsincluding engineering user experience human factors andlegal/compliance
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- Systems thinking: Experience creating and maintaining icon systems ordesign libraries
- Standards awareness: Ability to interpret and design to industry standardssafety guidance and basic regulatory requirements related to symbols andlabeling
- Additional Tools: Knowledge of 3D software like: Rhino Alias NX andTeamcenter
- Accessibility: Understanding of accessibility best practices includinglegibility contrast and color-blindfriendly design
- Experience designing icons for vehicles appliances consumer electronicsor other complex products
- Familiarity with user research methods such as usability testing orcustomer clinics
- Ability to develop inspire and motivate others through clear designdirection and feedback
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and teamwork across designand engineering groups
- Willingness to provide a strategic perspective on icon standards and designsystems
- Comfort taking intelligent risks and exploring new visual solutions whilestaying grounded in user needs
- Evidence of strong character with integrity honesty accountability andtrustworthiness
- Demonstrated initiative in identifying problems and driving them toresolution
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to simplifyingcomplex information
