Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital provides inpatient rehabilitation services for patients recovering from strokes brain or spinal cord injuries amputations complex orthopedic injuries and other conditions. Our Unit is a very fast-paced yet fun environment with endless opportunities to learn and grow!

JOB SUMMARY:

Evaluates and treats patient populations for swallowing speech-language and therapy needs.

Reports to: Director of Rehabilitation

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs and documents initial and ongoing assessments of patients condition.
• Designs and implements a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient and family.
• Educates and counsels patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
• Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services.
• Supervises activities of clinical fellows students and other support personnel.
  
  Skills:
• Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology Required
• Licenses: Licensed Speech Therapist; Current licensure with KY Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
