Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Location: Indianapolis IN
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 12 Weeks (with possibility of extension)
Shift: 3648 hours/week Days/Nights (3x12 or 4x12)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support Labor & Delivery (L&D) with additional responsibilities in PICU and Pediatric Acute Care. This role focuses on neonatal and maternal respiratory care requiring strong clinical expertise in high-acuity environments.
First-time travelers are welcome making this a great opportunity to expand experience in a specialized care setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care in Labor & Delivery including neonatal resuscitation support
- Perform patient assessments and administer respiratory treatments
- Assist with airway management and ventilatory support for neonates and pediatric patients
- Respond to emergency situations and support resuscitation efforts
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and interdisciplinary teams
- Monitor patient status and adjust treatments accordingly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Float to PICU and Pediatric Acute Care units as needed
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Active Indiana State Respiratory Therapist license (required at submission)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) NBRC
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (required for L&D; may be obtained after offer if not currently held)
Preferred:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Education Requirements
- Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by CoARC
- Program must also be regionally accredited by CHEA
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience
- Recent Childrens Hospital experience within the last 3 years required
- Prior Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience required
- Open to candidates with experience in Level 1 adult facilities
- Strong critical thinking and emergency response skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-acuity settings
