Job Summary
Location: Hartford New Haven or Stamford CT (Hybrid)Experience Level: 2-4 years of experience in business litigation and/or product liability defense required About the Role: Harris Beach Murtha is seeking an associate to join its collaborative Business Litigation team in Connecticut. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced litigators across offices and practice areas engage in sophisticated commercial disputes and take on meaningful responsibility representing clients in state and federal courts as well as in mediation and arbitration proceedings. The work is fast-paced team-oriented and provides hands-on experience managing complex business litigation matters from inception through Business Litigation Associate will have the opportunity to: Represent clients in courtroom proceedings mediations and arbitrations Take and defend depositions of parties and fact witnesses Research factual and legal issues and collaborate with senior attorneys on litigation strategy Draft pleadings memoranda discovery demands and responses motions and briefs Examine records and transactions underlying business disputes and potential client claims Work across a variety of commercial litigation practice areas including product liability defense and collaborate with colleagues firmwide to deliver comprehensive client serviceWork Environment and Expectations: A hybrid work opportunity in one of Harris Beach Murthas Connecticut officesEngagement in sophisticated commercial and business litigation on behalf of a diverse client baseMinimum annual billable requirement of 1800 hoursApplications are encouraged and desired if you have: Admission to the Connecticut bar (required)Admission to the New York and/or Massachusetts bar (preferred)Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school Experience with Connecticut State Court and Federal Court practice Federal or state judicial clerkship experience (preferred) Excellent research writing and verbal communication skillsThe ability to function effectively in a fast-paced team-oriented environmentStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing prioritiesDemonstrated ability to rapidly absorb and analyze new informationA high level of professionalism conscientiousness and responsibilityA positive flexible and cooperative attitudeMilitary experience welcomeHarris Beach Murtha is not accepting candidate submissions from recruiting agencies for this position during the first two weeks after posting.
