Indirect Tax Specialist

Role description:

The indirect tax specialist will work in close cooperation with Finance Legal Treasury and Tax departments. The role is focused on indirect tax compliance and indirect tax Advisory.

Role accountabilities:

(Inter)national project and VAT queries

• Gathering data needed for the determination of indirect tax effects of proposed business transactions for the North America region and the European region. Assist the Indirect Tax manager with preparing for the business for suitable solutions from an indirect tax perspective.
• Assist the indirect tax manager with any indirect tax related questions of the AP and AR teams of the North America region and the European region.

Tax control framework

• Assist the indirect tax manager with building improving and maintaining the indirect tax control framework for the North America region and the European region. This covers the indirect tax processes and all indirect tax documents needed. Assist with updating and maintaining indirect tax documents especially the indirect tax compliance documentation.

Oracle and Vertex

• Assist the indirect tax manager with initiating executing and developing maintaining and updating the ERP-system (Oracle Cloud Vertex Cloud) from a tax perspective for the North America region and the European region.

VAT compliance

• Assisting the indirect tax manager with indirect tax compliance (including preparation of VAT refund claims) in the North America region and the European region.
• Assist the indirect tax manager with tax audits for sales and use tax and property tax where needed for the North America region and the European region.

Assist the indirect tax manager with the development of policies and guidelines for indirect tax compliance and reporting for the North America region and the European region

Qualifications & Experience:

• Breadth of experience:Working internationally across different industries and business lines and/or functions managing projects impacting people/issues/solutions across organizational boundaries. The candidate should have experience with GST/HST/PST in Canada and EU VAT.
• Data and technology:Adopting data-driven decision making leveraging data to create and demonstrate value. Tech savvy and comfortable and curious about technologies.
• Sales tax use tax GST and VAT (EU and non-EU) - non-negotiable
• Software: Oracle Vertex Vertex On-Demand (negotiable note to what software they are using)
• Master data set-up - knowledgeable hands-on experience with background
• Experience in filing and payment
• US and EU experience is a must
