We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role ofManager - Business Risk and Resilience.
This role forms part of the Banks Business Risk and Resilience (BRR) Team under the Group Chief Operating Office (GCOO). The BRR Managers primary purpose is to protect our customers the bank and our colleagues -- by embedding the risk and control and operational resilience framework in HSBC Philippines. The role holder will work closely with Business/Risk Owners Process/Service/Control Owners as well as Risk Stewards Assurance and Audit teams and connect with regional global Centre of Excellence colleagues in driving the execution of the risk and control book of work for GCOO and International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB). This role opens up opportunities to grow skills across operational resilience business continuity third party risk management being part of the wider BRR remit and continue to learn and contribute as partners to the strategy execution of GCOO and IWPB.
In this role you will perform 5 major accountabilities:
- Analysis and advisory. Engage on business development new products / service / process platform and other projects as a business risk and control subject matter expert (SME) and provide advice on overall business risk and resilience control aspects. The role holder would be doing an oversight of various risk metrics risk and control assessments issues incidents gap analysis and utilize the same in providing risk profile view and risk management recommendations to GCOO and IWPB.
- Trusted partner of the Business. As risk and control SME will monitor and drive actions so that the business remains within risk appetite -- including pre-empting / flagging emerging risks and identifying /addressing issues and applying a holistic and sustainable prevention and embedding lessons learnt / making an effective read across from past incidents/issues. Coordinate with relevant IWPB GCOO Risk Stewards to make these initiatives proactive and timely. Drive operational risk awareness including briefing and training to staff and testing and revalidation exercises where warranted.
- Controls lead. Lead the effective controls design and operationalization across IWPB and GCOO by checking adherence to risk and control taxonomy guidance and requirements. Additionally formulates and performs independent control effectiveness and sustainability testing plans (e.g. sales quality checks for IWPB). Challenge / validate controls monitoring results business initiatives. Drive ways of working that remains customer centric risk aware audit-proof and likewise efficient simplified and sustainable.
- Governance and reporting. Helps in the secretariat of business risk governance meetings of IWPB / GCOO management. Ensures timely and comprehensive risk reporting to senior management including Country Risk Meeting and ASP IWPB and GCOO risk forum reporting.
- Acts as a focal point of contact for reviews and audits. Oversees regular and ad-hoc visits/reviews/audit. Help manage that the information and communication across teams are seamless. Engage and escalate effectively to drive healthy challenge and clarity on issues and solution discussions.

- Expected to collaborate with a wide array of stakeholders in IWPB and GCOO and across Risk Stewards ; Coverage of IWPB includes HSBC Insurance Brokerage business and initiatives
- Local lead implementor of Risk Management principles from Global guidelines and supporting the banks compliance with the BSP regulations

Experience Skills and Qualifications
- Risk management particularly on Regulatory and Resilience Risks
- Data management skills and analytical thinking to support testing assurance activities and reporting for management decision-making
- Communication and corporate governance
- Capable of implementing simplification / efficiency techniques
- Strategic partnership and customer-centricity -- knowledge of IWPB Business and GCOO remit
