Job Summary
The Construction QA Engineer is responsible for overseeing Quality Assurance and document control management during the installation phases of MEP systems architectural/fit-out works and steel structure components on project sites. This role ensures that all construction activities meet project specifications quality standards and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate and traceable documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Quality Assurance plans Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) checklists and inspection/acceptance procedures for fit-out and steel structure works.
- Review construction drawings RFIs variation instructions and method statements with focus on:
- Welding bolting coating corrosion protection
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Installation parameters (alignment verticality levelness)
- Monitor and control quality during steel structure fabrication and installation including:
- Welding supervision and inspection
- Bolt pre-tension verification
- Coating thickness and corrosion protection checks
- Dimensional and tolerance verification
- Conduct site inspections and quality surveillance for fit-out works such as partitions ceilings flooring finishes and equipment interfaces.
- Identify defects and ensure proper rectification and closure of quality issues.
- Establish and manage document control systems ensuring proper tracking of:
- Drawings and revisions
- Test reports and inspection records
- Welding coating and NDT reports
- As-built documentation
- Coordinate with consultants PMC subcontractors and internal teams to ensure compliance with:
- Contract specifications
- Design requirements
- Applicable standards and QA systems
- Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform quality audits prepare reports and communicate findings to QA/QC Manager and Project Manager.
- Support project handover activities.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelors degree in Engineering Structural Engineering MEP / Building Services Architecture Construction Management or related fields.
- Certifications in quality management or document control are an advantage.
- Minimum 35 years of relevant experience in Fit-out works Steel structure works MEP system installation
- Strong knowledge of steel structure fabrication and installation processes including:
- Welding bolting and pre-tensioning
- Painting coating and corrosion protection
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
- Installation tolerances and alignment control
- Familiar with fit-out systems such as: Partitions ceilings flooring and finishes; Equipment interfaces and detailing works
- Good understanding of document control processes.
