Subject to formal establishment variation a vacancy may arise for a Sqn Ldr (Any Profession) to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff 2 Gp Reserves at RAF High Wycombe on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS) with an initial proposed start date of 05 October 2026 (or earlier/later subject to formal establishment and candidate status).
As Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) you are a member of the 2 Gp Reserves HQ team working to the ACOS 2 Gp Reserves and reporting to the 2 Gp COS Reserves. You are responsible for supporting the effective delivery of increasing RAF Reserve operational output and demonstrable quantifiable utility to 2 Gp.
Your responsibilities span the full range of Reserve outputs and include leading engagement to ensure effective liaison and positive outcomes with Regular and Reserve stakeholders Air Bases higher headquarters and Reservefacing civilian organisations.
Responsibilities:
- Support the coherence of RAF Reserve staff functions across 2 Gp Air Bases and Global Enablement pillars.
- In support of ACOS Reserves and 2 Gp Reserves OF5s contribute to 2 Gp future Reserves innovation and Whole Force integration.
- Provide Reserves specific guidance to supported 2 Gp elements.
- Trouble shoot Reserve specific issues with Air Base and Global Enablement interlocutors.
- Promote the development of reservist opportunities to support Air Bases and Whole Force effort.
- Support the timely delivery of Reservist focused projects and workstreams within 2 Gp that contribute to enhancing Business as Usual (BaU) activities Transition to Conflict (TtC) and Warfighting capabilities.
- Contribute to the development of Reserve specific management information provision for ACOS Reserves staff and 2 Gp HQ.
- Deputise for 2 Gp COS Reserves as required.
- Promote an inclusive culture working to increase understanding and engagement through education and initiative.
