We are seeking an inquisitive and environmentally-conscious Geography Teacher to join a high-performing Humanities faculty in Sunderland. Situated at the mouth of the River Wear with a proud maritime and industrial identity Sunderland provides a living laboratory for a specialist. We are looking for an educator who can bridge the gap between local coastal processes and the global challenges of the 21st century.

Core Responsibilities

• Pedagogical Excellence: Planning and delivering high-quality enquiry-based lessons across KS3 KS4 and KS5 with a focus on GCSE and A-Level Geography.

• Physical & Human Mastery: Guiding students through the complexities of tectonic hazards glacial landscapes and atmospheric systems alongside the study of changing places global governance and population dynamics.

• Geographical Enquiry: Leading rigorous fieldwork investigationsfrom the high-energy coastline of the North East to the urban regeneration projects of the Sunderland Riverside development.

• GIS & Digital Literacy: Integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite imagery into the curriculum to help students visualise spatial data and environmental change.

• Exam Mastery: Mentoring examination cohorts through AQA or Edexcel specifications with a clinical focus on the 20-mark evaluative essay and the NEA (Independent Investigation) at Key Stage 5.

• Sustainability Advocacy: Leading whole-school initiatives on ecological stewardship carbon literacy and coordinating trips to sites of geographical significance across the North of England.

Candidate Profile

• Qualification: QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a strong honours degree in Geography Environmental Science or a related discipline.

• Pedagogy: A proven track record of facilitating strong student progress and a commitment to active learning through data collection and critical analysis.
