Primary Purpose of the Role
To contribute to the mechanical design and development activities related to test tools jigs lifting tools mechanical test benches and mechatronic /electromechanical packaging.
Responsible for design development activities generation of associated manufacturing product data package or definition files and release in the configuration management tool
Performs analytical calculations design analysis and simulation to address functional aspects stability of mechanical systems manufacturability testability and maintainability
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Understands the needs of the customer and formalize the function description architectural design and requirements.
Perform concept review and design review (PDR CDR)
Preparation of BOM and compliance with ROHS & REACH standards
Contributes to the hardware architectural design
Performs CAD activities (Mechanical CAD) for machined parts sheet metal parts assemblies for assembly tools fixtures etc.
Analytical calculations and analysis for justification of requirement
Participates in integration activities and verification phases
Contributes to the product data package generation and release dossier to Manufacturer
Ensures the Configuration Management of the HW design elements in repository
Contributes to the Change Management of the Hardware Solution.
Contributes to co-engineering activities with the hardware IVVQ and Systems Engineering team
Ability to include safety ergonomics maintenance cost topics in a design
Ability to estimate the effort (duration people/skills required) to perform a design office activity build a planning and manage its progress
Skills Required
Essential CAD tools CREO 07 OR 10 (minimum 5 years)
Must have strong analytical skills to develop the system from the specifications and generate justification documents
Must have experience in creating 3D models and 2D drawings and specifications for mechanical assemblies sub-assemblies and components including 2D drawings for machining parts fabrication sheet metal
Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) based on ISO GPS Standard or ASME.
Tolerance stack up
Must have experience with contents of Product Data Package (Bill of Material or Item List Item Documents components COTS Find Number Material & Processes Item configuration management etc.)
Engineering Fundamentals:
Should be good at Mechanical Engineering fundamental Strength of materials Design of machine elements
Should have hands-on experience in computational analysis and simulation to address functional aspects stability of mechanical systems
Manufacturing:
Design For Manufacturing (DFM) Design for Assembly Design to cost Design for testability Design for maintainability Value analysis and value engineering (VAVE)
Knowledge of manufacturing processes like machining sheet metal surface treatments painting processes additive manufacturing for plastic and metals
Documentation:
Design justification Test procedure user and maintenance manual
Desirable
Working experience in Defense Aerospace industry is desirable.
Knowledge of designing mechanical assembly tools jigs lifting tools rack and cabinets electronic enclosure design and packaging thermal management.

Years of experience: 10 to 14 years of Industrial Experience
Educational Qualification: Graduate/ masters degree in engineering in Mechanical
Certifications (desired): CREO 7 or 10 GD&T Tolerance stack up
Technologies and Programming Languages: Mechanical Structures & benches Lifting Tools and Fixtures electronic packaging
