QUALIFICATION
- EDUCATION: S. M.S. or DPT from a college or university with an approved Physical Therapy Education Program
- LICENSURE:
- Physical Therapy license issued by Iowa Department of Public Health
- Iowa Board of Educational Examiners Statement of Professional Recognition
- EXPERIENCE: Experience or interest in pediatrics desired
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Collaborate with LEA and AEA staff other agencies parents and caregivers regarding motor-based concerns
- Provide functional mobility postural and positioning assessments of the child within his/her educational environment
- Screen assess and provide resources and/or services to students 0-21 in areas of functional mobility posture positioning and adaptive equipment management within least restrictive environments
- Manage time organize materials and communicate with AEA and LEA staff to effectively manage cases of assigned students
- Fulfill IEP and IFSP service delivery minutes and maintain timely documentation and billing
- Utilize individualized physical therapy interventions for children and youth with disabilities in the educational environment
- Monitor student progress toward measurable educational goals and objectives
- Participate in supervising clinical interns and in other student training
- Develop/and or participate in professional enrichment activities to maintain a high standard of service delivery
- Engage in public awareness activities to assist consumers in understanding their services and outcomes of the physical therapy profession in the educational setting
- Serve as an advocate for all children and youth
- Report any and all violations of rules and regulations to supervisor/coordinator
- Assume responsibility for adapting designing ordering and maintaining equipment
- Supervise physical therapy assistants
- Provide training and coaching to students or childs caregivers in how to best implement routine-based strategies and tiered supports
- Participate in IEP and IFSP meetings and engage in team decision making
- Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to travel between schools and sites served.
- Normal routine levels of activity related to bending carrying climbing hearing lifting reaching sitting standing vision and walking. Ability to regularly get up and down from the floor climb stairs and deliver and manage positioning and adaptive therapy equipment. May also involve above-average levels of activity at times that cant always be anticipated.
