Job Summary
The Building & Utility Automation & Energy Management Engineer is responsible for the design implementation optimization and maintenance of automation controls and energy management systems across industrial facilities in Mexico and the America region. This role ensures that building systems and utilities operate efficiently safely and reliably by applying advanced automation technologies data analytics metering strategies and energy optimization techniques.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize automation and control systems for HVAC chilled water compressed air boilers pumping stations lighting water systems and BMS/SCADA platforms.
Support programming and troubleshooting of PLCs HMIs SCADA BMS and DDC systems.
Develop specifications and standards for automation hardware networks and control architecture.
Ensure OT cybersecurity compliance and collaborate with IT/OT teams.
Integrate new equipment into existing automation platforms using BACnet Modbus Ethernet/IP OPC-UA.
Lead energy optimization projects for electricity steam water compressed air HVAC and utilities.
Perform energy audits efficiency analysis load profiling and create energy dashboards.
Identify and implement actions to reduce energy use and operating costs.
Manage automation and energy projects from concept through commissioning.
Prepare technical specifications functional descriptions and control narratives.
Lead FAT/SAT commissioning validation and system handover.
Maintain automation standards documentation and asset information.
Implement preventive and predictive maintenance for automation and energy systems.
Ensure compliance with NOM NFPA IEEE ASHRAE ISA and international standards.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics Automation Mechanical or related field.
At least 3 years of automation controls BMS or utility systems experience.
Experience with PLCs BMS/SCADA industrial communication protocols.
Experience with energy analysis metering and efficiency improvements.
Ability to interpret electrical diagrams P&IDs and control logic.
Experience leading CAPEX automation or energy projects.
Knowledge of OT cybersecurity.
Intermediate/advanced English proficiency.
