Job Summary
The Controls Supervisor is responsible for leading the operation maintenance and optimization of the campus-wide Building Automation System ( BAS ) and associated controls infrastructure. This role oversees a team of controls technicians and ensures all HVAC and energy management systems operate efficiently reliably and in alignment with institutional goals. The Controls Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting mission-critical environments by improving system performance reducing energy consumption and ensuring occupant comfort and safety across a large complex campus.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of controls technicians responsible for BAS HVAC controls and related systems. Manage and maintain campus-wide Building Automation Systems including programming troubleshooting and system optimization. Oversee integration of new construction and retrofit projects into existing control systems. Ensure proper operation of central plant equipment (chillers boilers cooling towers pumps) through controls strategies and sequences. Develop implement and maintain control standards sequences of operation and graphics for consistency across campus. Troubleshoot complex control system issues including network communication sensors actuators and controllers. Monitor system performance and implement energy conservation measures and continuous commissioning practices. Provide training and technical guidance to staff on BAS platforms and control best practices. Manage vendor relationships and oversee service contracts related to control systems.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED . Strong knowledge of BAS platforms (e.g. Siemens Phoenix and Niagara/Tridium etc.). Experience with programming graphics and system integration. Experience and knowledge of HVAC systems central plants and energy management principles. Experience and ability to read and interpret both mechanical and electrical drawings. This position requires you to have and maintain a Texas Class C Operators Drivers License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
Technical degree or certification in HVAC controls or related field. Five (5) years of experience in Building Automation Systems and HVAC controls. Two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience. Experience in a large campus environment (university hospital or industrial facility). Familiarity with open protocols such as BACnet Modbus and LonWorks. Experience with energy analytics fault detection and continuous commissioning tools.
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. May require after-hours work at times. The anticipated start date for this position is June 1 2026.
