Position Summary
The Special Education Resource Teacher provides targeted instructional support and services to students with disabilities across multiple grade levels. This role requires flexibility collaboration with general education staff and the ability to address a wide range of student needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education (Masters preferred)
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with diverse learners across multiple grade levels preferred
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and special education law
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Flexibility and problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to serve more than one school building depending on district needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in individual and small group settings
- Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers to support delivery of specially designed instruction
- Conduct assessments and use data to guide instructional decisions
- Maintain accurate and compliant special education documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Support behavioral interventions and social-emotional development
- Serve multiple grade levels and content areas as needed due to district size
- Assist in coordinating related services (speech occupational therapy etc.) as available in the capacity of a case manager for students with disabilities.
