POSITION: Director of Human Resource
DEPARTMENT: HUMAN RESOURCES
REPORTS TO: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors in Human Resources or Hospitality
- 8 to 10 years of experience in Human Resources in hotel/resort required
- Ability to speak and write in English
- PHR certification preferred.
SUMMARY:
To oversee the Human Resources Department for The Las Olas Company by completing the following functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Creates and places advertisements for all open positions
- Discusses personnel needs with department managers to prepare and implement successful hiring programs
- Provides information on company facilities and job opportunities to potential applicants.
- Reviews employment application and evaluates work history education and training job skills compensation needs and other qualifications of applicants.
- Corresponds with job applicants to notify them of employment consideration.
- Reviews job orders and matches applicants with job requirements
- Searches for and recruits applicants for open positions. Attends Job Fairs and develops relationships with recruiters.
- Coordinates employee events and special projects.
- Assist with office responsibilities of answering phones assisting employees and screening applicants when needed.
- Attends small and large department head meetings morning meetings and keeps managers informed of any new issues.
- Conducts wage survey within labor market to determine competitive wage rate.
- Distributes listing to all managers of outstanding reviews due a minimum of one month in advance.
- Routes PAFs and inputs and maintains new hires and payroll changes in ADP
- Promotes referral program and keeps track of incentives due to eligible employees
- Updates Staffing Guidelines and ensures that turnover report is completed and distributed on a monthly basis.
- Assists employees separating from hotel return company property and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
- Distributes Employee of the Month/Year and Manager of the Quarter/Year Nominations
- Investigates accidents and calls in Notice of Injury. Ensures that employee receives adequate treatment and returns to work as soon as possible. Monitors workers comp claim costs.
- Attends Safety Committee and makes recommendations for reductions of accidents.
- Assists managers with progressive disciplinary process.
- Administers unemployment claims and attends hearings/ depositions.
- Responsible for preparation of budget and capital expenses
- Attends training classes for further development of HR knowledge
- Responsible for coordination of community events/ community engagement of the company.
- Writes directives advising department managers of company policy regarding equal employment opportunities compensation employee benefits and hotel policies
- Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law
- Develops and maintains HR systems and procedures such as PAF policies.
- Oversees the analysis maintenance and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies or other departments in the organization such as personnel file I-9 EEOC reports etc.
- Monitors employee training and development programs.
- Maintains and monitors an effective employee relations program.
- Disciplines counsels and coaches employees as needed.
- Supervises assigned employees including hiring terminating performance evaluations training and development.
- Administers benefits programs and works with company broker to establish best rates and plans
- Coordinates career advancement opportunities for employees
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
- Plans and coordinates employee recognition functions and employee morale programs
- Monitors performance and compensation reviews for all staff
- Maintains updated insurance billing reports
- Maintains and audits Plan Source benefits administration system
- Communicates employee eligibility for benefits such as 401(k) and health insurance
- Tracks all leave of absences including FMLA and personal
- Administers J1 Visa Program and ensures company compliance throughout the internship.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
